それは、自分の身体と心で、行いえる事なのか ？
Is it something we can do with our body and mind?
それが、見極めどころです
That's what we have to find out.
手と足、十本の指
Hands and feet, ten fingers
意志をその先端まで、行き渡らせる
Spreading the will to its very tip
更に、意志を踵まで満たす
Furthermore, fill the will to the heel
そして、頭で天を衝き、腰を大地に埋める
And, With your head, hit the sky.
Bury your waist in the earth
これは、信仰でも思想でもありません
This is not a faith or an ideology.
仏教と言う宗教以前のものと言えます
It could be said that this was before
the religion of Buddhism.
頭の中で、
In our head.
意志と思考を動かすように
Like moving will and thought
指の先端や踵、頭のてっぺん
Tip of finger, heel, top of head
そこで意志が息づく
That's where the will breathes.
これは、静かに坐す坐禅だから、出来る事です
This is possible because zazen is a quiet sitting practice.

だからこそ、こう感じます
That's why we feel this way
「今、ここ」 ではなく、私はここにいる
Not "here and now." , I'm here.
自分の輪郭に意志を投入する
Putting the will into our contours.
これは宗教と言うより、創造行為と言えます
This is not a religion, but rather an act of creation !

Chapter 2 of Genesis
土の塵で人を形づくり
Shaping people with the dust of the earth
その鼻に命の息を吹き入れられた
and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life
人は、こうして生きる者となった
This is how man became a living being.
坐禅は宗教と言うより、創造行為と言えます
Zazen is not a religion, but rather an act of creation !
