正法眼蔵 辨道話（ １６０）
これは、官務にひまなかりし身なれども
仏道にこころざしふかければ得道せるなり
他をもてわれをかへりみ、むかしをもていまをかがみるべし
この人は、官務で暇のない身でしたが
仏の教えへ志が深かったので、坐禅に道を得ました
このような他の行跡をもって自己を顧みる事はよいことです
昔をもって今の手本とするのです
He was a government official with little time to spare.
but, He was deeply committed to the teachings of the Buddha,
so he found his way to zazen.
It is good to reflect on oneself in the light of these other deeds.
Let the past be an example for the present.
