正法眼蔵 辨道話（ ４８）
おろかに千万誦 zyu の
口業 ku-go をしきりにして
仏道にいたらんとするは
なほこれながえをきたにして
越 e-tu にむかはんとおもはんがごとし
又、円孔 en-ku に
方木 ho-boku をいれんとせんにおなじ
...........愚かにも千遍万遍と
...........Foolishly, a thousand times,
...........ten thousand times.
...........むやみに口に称えて
...........Chanting blindly
...........仏道に行き着こうとする
...........This is how we try
...........to reach the Buddha's path.
...........これは、このような事です
...........This is what it's all about.
...........北を向いて
...........南の国へ行こうとするようなものです
...........It's like facing north
...........and trying to get to the south.
...........円い穴に四角い木を
...........入れるようなものです
...........It's like putting a square piece of wood
...........in a round hole.
