しめしていはく
「 これ仏法の正門 syo-mon なるをもてなり 」
とふていはく
「 なんぞひとり正門とする 」
仏の道は、色々伝わっている
The way of the Buddha
has been transmitted in many ways.
その中で、何故坐禅を勧めるのか
Why do you recommend Zazen in this context?
坐禅は、仏の教えの正門だからです
Zazen is the main gate to the Buddha's teachings.
これに対し、問いがなされます
To this, the question is asked
どうして、そうなるのですか？
How can that be ?
頭で天を衝き、腰を大地に埋める
With your head, hit the sky.
Bury your waist in the earth
こうすると、どうなるのでしょう
What happens when we do this ?
登山家が使うピッケル
Pickaxe used by climber
それを一本、地面に打ち込みます
I'll drive one of those into the ground.
それにロープを付け、目一杯引っ張ります
Attach a rope to it and pull it as hard as you can.
目一杯引っ張りつつ、円を描きます
Draw a circle, pulling as hard as you can.
ロープの先はすべて、目一杯外へ引っ張ってます
All the ends of the rope are pulled
as far out as they can go.
登山家が打ち込んだピッケル
Pickaxe hammered in by a climber
これが円の中心になります
This will be the center of the circle.
この時、ロープはどうなってるでしょう
What about the rope at this point?
引っ張った分、中心へ引っ張られます
The more you pull,
the more you are pulled to the center.
